Escape Free Comfort X One is the first Gooby harness that has both.

The harness has a built-in strap mechanism that tightens and contracts around the dog’s chest when there’s sudden active pulling (i.e. dog tries to back out suddenly).

When the dog’s relaxed and there’s no active pulling, the mechanism loosens so the dog stays comfortable.

Having the right fit is crucial for this mechanism to work. 

You want the harness to be just tight and snug enough so your pup stays comfortable when there’s no active pulling.

If the fit is too loose, the mechanism won’t work.

This is because the harness is too big and there’s enough space for them to escape the harness, even when the mechanism has contracted all the way.

This is why if the fit isn't right for the pup, no harness will truly be escape proof.

The patented X-Frame Design ensures that the pulling forces are redirected to the dog’s chest, shoulders, and away from their necks. 

As a result, the dog experiences zero pressure on their necks and avoids potential neck injuries that are common in small or brachycephalic dogs.

It's a head-in harness.

Follow these steps:

1. Take the harness and slip it over your dog’s head. The side with the X-frame is the bottom and the side with “gooby” is the top.
2. Hook and snap on the two buckles, making sure they are securely fastened.
3. Adjust the harness to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. Note:You should be able to fit one finger between the harness and your dog's skin, but it should not be loose enough for your dog to slip out of.
4. Attach your leash to the D-ring on the back of the harness and you're ready to go!

• Yes, it can replace your collar if you're using collars to walk your dog.
• It does not replace your collar if you're using it for name tags.

• If you're currently using a collar to walk your small dog, we would strongly suggest you stop. Using it for name tags is fine 🙂.

It can be used inside the car, but it is not expected to function as a dog car harness.

Currently, there is no Gooby harness that is designed or rated for vehicle restraint systems.

Therefore, we do not advise connecting any of our harnesses to any restraint systems.

• using a gentle cycle with mild detergent and cold water
• rinse the harness thoroughly before air drying it.

Ideally, the harness should fit in a way so that there is about 1 finger's width of space between the back of the dog and the harness.

No it doesn't. The smallest chest size starts at 10.5".

Some customers have utilized the D-ring on the harness and have found good success.

The metal leash hooks can potentially rust if there is extended exposure to moisture. However, this is highly unlikely unless the d-ring is constantly immersed in liquid.

We've had feedback from our community that the tightening of the harness when it’s pulled can serve as a training signal to the dog.

This tightening signal makes it potentially useful during training.

However, we did not design this for training purposes. It was designed for dogs that have a tendency to pull by backing up.

Snapping the buckles together is pretty easy

1. locate the male and female parts of the buckle. The male part is typically the one with the prong, while the female part has a hole to insert the prong.
2. Insert the prong of the male part into the hole of the female part. The prong should slide easily into the hole and lock in place.

Yes, it's suitable for normal outdoor activities such as walking, hiking, and running.
